Raj Uphaar

Raj Uphaar is an initiative of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care, the charitable arm of Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur.

Raj Uphaar supports over 150 underprivileged tribal women in their quest towards attaining self-reliance and a respectable source of income. We offer them end-to-end support by providing employment opportunities, skill training, raw material and equipment, safe workplaces, as well as product marketing and distribution. These talented and dedicated women produce more than 100 desserts, snacks, fragrances and utility products for your home.

Tales of Transformation

Each of these tribal women has a story to tell.

Some are sole breadwinners of a large, multi-generational family while others are raising their children alone. Some need to supplement their husband’s income to improve their quality of life while others are victims of domestic abuse.

All of them have one thing in common - they seek self-reliance and a respectable source of income.

Nirmala, a 27-year old from rural Gujarat, has been financially supporting her family since the past 3 years. Having a prior experience of working with computers, she joined Raj Uphaar with the intent of further developing her technical skills. Nirmala is also entrusted with the responsibility of managing the accounts of Raj Uphaar on a computer! Cherishing her experience, she says, “I have been a part of Raj Uphaar since a young age, as my mother worked here and I joined her during my vacations. I am forever grateful for this opportunity to work here, and now I am also able to support my whole family!”

Joining Raj Uphaar has been very satisfying as I am able to work with fellow women on modern equipment which has resulted in my personal development. Raj Uphaar was instrumental in teaching me how to write as I had not received any education. Earlier, I was doing trivial household chores during the day at a few homes. However, joining Raj Uphaar has been very satisfying as I am able to work with fellow women on modern equipment which has resulted in my personal development. Working at this project since 4 years, I can say that it has helped in the progress of my entire family, consisting of my husband and three children. I came to know about Raj Uphaar from my village women folk and the personal development that these ladies had experienced working there. Knowing this, I was inspired to join this initiative and began working here. The best aspect of Raj Uphaar is that they imparted training to me to ensure I learn the process well and once I am well versed with it, they ensure continuous growth and development.
